Sara Evans has certainly made a name for herself in the music world in the past few years. With several successful albums, a substantial list of hit singles, many award nominations, and even a spot on People’s Most Beautiful People List, she has devoted her talent to the art and to its fans.

Growing up on a farm in New Franklin, Missouri, Sara Evans spent her time singing and playing instruments. Family life was focused on music and Sara, along with her seven older siblings, was singing with the family band by the time she had turned five years old. Despite the fact that Sara suffered multiple leg injuries after being hit by an automobile when she was eight, she continued singing. In fact, she used her talent to raise money to pay for the medical bills. As Sara grew, so did her love of music and at sixteen, she was performing at a nightclub in Columbia, Missouri.

By the time she was 20, Sara knew that she wanted to pursue a career in music and headed to Nashville, Tennessee to make her dream come true. While in Nashville, Sara met Craig Schelske. Although their relationship started out professional, they became involved personally. A year later, the two moved to Oregon and married in 1993. They moved back to Nashville in 1995 and Sara took up her country music career once again. Upon her return, she began recording demos and when songwriter Harlan Howard heard her sing a song of his, he knew he wanted her to sing more of his songs. Soon, Sara was signed to RCA Records.

Three Chords and the Truth, Sara’s debut album, was released in 1997. Although critics loved her traditional country sound and style, no song from the album made it to the radio. The following year, Sara released the next album, No Place That Far, with a pop-country style. This time, although critics were disappointed, her duet single with Vince Gill, “No Place That Far,” became a No.1 hit. The third album, Born to Fly, also harbored several hits including “Born To Fly,” “I Could Not Ask For More,” “Saints and Angels,” and “I Keep Looking,” in 2000. When the Country Music Association Awards rolled around in 2001, Sara was the most-nominated artist and won the Video of the Year award.

In 2003, Sara showed a different side of her personality and talent when she released Restless. The album demonstrated her ability to sing country music as well as blues, pop, and soul music. “Backseat of a Greyhound Bus” quickly became a hit, followed by “Perfect” and “Suds in the Bucket.” With her growing popularity, number of hits, and exposure on the radio, Sara was invited to sing at the 2004 Republican National Convention.

The following year, Sara only increased her already huge success with her song, “A Real Fine Place to Start.” The popularity of this single paved the way for her related album, Real Fine Place, and it soared to the No.1 spot on country album charts and No.3 on pop charts. She then joined Brad Paisley on his Time Well Wasted Tour while her singles, “Cheatin’” and “Coalmine” also became hits. In 2006, Sara won the ACM award for Female Vocalist of the Year. She later participated in ABC’s Dancing With The Stars with Tony Dovolani.
