Faith Hill has come a long way from the small town girl she once was. She has released eight records and sold millions of copies. With the release of her latest album, she has risen to global stardom and become a true superstar. Despite her worldwide fame, Faith continues to pour her emotions into her work and connect with each of her fans.

Born Audrey Faith Perry on September 21, 1967, Faith Hill grew up in Star, Mississippi with her adoptive parents and two brothers. Faith’s talent and love for singing was recognized at the early age of seven with her first public performance at a 4-H luncheon. She furthered her talent by singing at her family’s Baptist Church. Throughout her teen years she continued her love for music and learned how to play the guitar. At sixteen, Faith started her own country band and played at local rodeos and fairs. After she graduated high school, Faith attended a community college for about a year until she moved to Nashville, Tennessee to pursue her musical career. Here, she worked at a music publishing company and later became a fan merchandise packager. One year later, in 1988, she married music publishing executive and songwriter, Daniel Hill.

Faith’s breakthrough came when talent scout Martha Sharp discovered her in the Bluebird Café while she was singing back-up for Gary Burr. She was offered a record contract and gained great popularity when her debut album, Take Me As I Am, was released in 1993. Her song, “Wild One,” reached No. 1 on the Billboard country music chart for four weeks in 1994, making country music history as she became the first female country singer to hold that position in 30 years.

Her fame and success unfortunately proved troublesome in her personal life when Faith and Daniel divorced in that same year. Despite her personal problems, the rising star continued on her path to a lasting career in the music business. She finished the year touring with artists like Alan Jackson, Reba McEntire, and Brooks & Dunn as their opening act.

Faith marked the beginning of 1995 with the release of her second album, It Matters to Me and secured her musical career. The album reached the top of the charts and her title single remained the best seller for six months. As 1996 began, Faith embarked on a joint tour with country singer Tim McGraw that would change her life. During the tour, the two became romantically involved, ending her current engagement to producer, Scott Hendricks. They married later that year on October 6 and had their first child, Gracie Katherine in May of 1997, followed by Maggie Elizabeth in 1998 and Audrey Caroline in 2001.

In 1998, Faith released her third album, Faith, which included the songs, “This Kiss” and “Just to Hear You Say That You Love Me.” With these songs and her following 1999 album, Breathe, Faith attracted both country and pop music fans. Not only did this bring her even more popularity, but also won her Nashville Music Awards’ Best Country Album and the Academy of Country Music’s Best Female Vocalist award. In response to their growing fame, Faith and her husband Tim began their second tour in 2000. After her tour, Faith won several awards including the People’s Choice Awards Favorite Female Music Performer four years in a row, from 2001 to 2004. Along with her musical achievements, Faith also tried her hand at acting in the 2004 movie, The Stepford Wives. In the film, she played Sarah Sunderson, a beautiful and peculiarly perfect wife in Stepford, Connecticut.

Throughout most of her career, Faith has worked with her charity, the Faith Hill Family Literacy Project. She began this charity in May of 1996 to help combat worldwide illiteracy. Her organization increases public awareness of literacy and collects books and money for children and literacy groups. Faith gets her inspiration from her father and believes, "If I can be the catalyst for one child ... then I've accomplished my mission." She has also raised money for the Hurricane Katrina disaster in Mississippi with the “Mississippi Rising” concert.

Faith released her sixth album, Fireflies, on August 2, 2005. She gained a lot of her inspiration for this album from artist, Lori McKenna. Faith spent more time than usual on this album to make sure it “…feels as honest and as real as it gets. It speaks about a lot of things that are personal to all of us.” In addition to advancing her career and helping charities, Faith also performed at the 39th Annual CMA Awards in November 2006. She and her husband Tim McGraw will be touring this summer with the Soul 2 Soul Tour 2007.
