Blaine Larsen was born in Tacoma , Washington on February 2, 1986. His family moved to California until his parents divorced when he was five years old. Even after moving back to Washington with his mother and younger sister and growing closer to his grandmother, Blaine still had a hard time accepting his father’s absence. Disappointed with his father’s broken promises, Blaine was happy to work with Woody, a family friend, who took him along on weekend contracting jobs when he was ten. He admired Woody and was delighted when he and his mother later married.
It was during these contracting jobs that Blaine discovered his love for country music, and later his love for both singing and playing. Woody, a fan of country music, played it on the way to the jobs and the two would sing along to karaoke tapes at home. Blaine enjoyed George Strait in particular and was inspired by his music. After saving enough money from selling birdhouses that he made, Blaine bought his first guitar at the age of thirteen. Soon he was performing for school assemblies, sporting events, weddings, and civic clubs.
Blaine decided to follow his talent instead of his plan of joining the Air Force. With this decision, he and his parents went to Nashville to record a demo when he was fifteen. Although disappointed with the quality of the production, Blaine was able to sell 1,000 CDs at his performances back in Washington . These records did not bring about instant stardom in Buckley but a letter, written by one of his schoolmates, did put the spotlight on him. The girl was a distant relative of songwriter Rory Lee Feek who wrote to ask him to listen to Blaine ’s music. Rory met Blaine at the recording studio and after returning home, Blaine sent him a finished CD. After listening to the CD, Rory, along with songwriter Tim Johnson, brought Blaine back to Nashville and released the single, “In My High School,” that was played in Seattle.
When record labels heard him in Seattle , they auditioned him and offered him contracts. Blaine signed with BNA Records and by the end of 2004, Blaine had a new single, “How Do You Get That Lonely,” and released his debut album, Off to Join the World, in 2005.
The game plan for his new album, Rockin’ You Tonight, was simple. "I just love
great songs, things that move me," he says, "and they could be about
anything, so there's a wide variety of subjects. The music should make
me feel something, make you want to cry or get up and dance.
Thematically, we explored more adult subjects, and that might be the big
thing people notice. I was 16 when I did some of the songs on the last
album, and a lot has happened since then." Blaine ’s sophmore album, Rockin’ You Tonight, was released on June 13, 2006. .
