Josh Turner’s success as a country music artist was never questioned; from his first days singing in the church to his current position as an adored musician with two platinum albums, his talent and signature bass voice, along with some perseverance, have carried Josh to where he is today.

Born on November 20, 1977, Josh Turner grew up in Hannah, South Carolina singing bass and baritone in church choirs. As a child and into adolescence, Josh knew he loved music and wanted to make it his career. He started with a small quartet in his church, the Thankful Hearts, where he occasionally led the group. Determined and focused, Josh moved to Nashville after he graduated and began his studies at Belmont, University. While studying voice, Josh unfortunately suffered from a lesion on one of his vocal chords. Although this injury kept Josh from singing for a year, he learned classical voice techniques and how to take care of his voice during this time.

Josh’s career took off shortly after his graduation from Belmont. He was featured on the Grand Ole Opry in December of 2001 where he sang a song that he wrote, “Long Black Train.” His work captured the audience so much that he received a standing ovation in the middle and sang an encore performance. A few weeks after his debut, Josh had already landed himself a record deal and began work on an album. In 2003, Long Black Train was released and had sold more than one million copies as 2005 rolled around.

Josh released a second album¸ Your Man, in 2006. His singles “Your Man” and “Would You Go With Me” both made it to the No.1 spot on the charts and the album has also sold over one million copies. “Me and God,” Josh’s latest single from the album, is currently gaining popularity in both Christian and country music audiences.
