Darryl Worley, born on October 31, 1964 in Pyburn, Tennessee, was raised in both a musical and religious environment. At a young age, Darryl’s father packed up the family to join the ministry and moved frequently. In high school, Darryl showed a talent in sports, which unfortunately ended after he broke his back while playing basketball.
He took an interest in science while attending the Northern Alabama University and earned a degree in biology. Later, Darryl taught seventh and eighth grade biology before pursuing a career in music.
Darryl began by signing a publishing deal at Fame in Music Shoals and played at bars in Nashville. His traditional style attracted DreamWorks Nashville and soon he was signed with the record label. In 2000, he released his debut single, “Hard Rain Don’t Last,” and later, his debut album, Hard Rain Don’t Last.
Darryl released his second album, I Miss My Friend, in 2002 and the title track skyrocketed to the No.1 spot on the charts. That same year he was nominated for The Academy of Country Music Top New Male Vocalist award and received nominations for the Country Music Association for the Horizon Award.
After the release of his second album, Darryl visited the troops in Afghanistan and wrote the song, “Have You Forgotten.” This single also rose to No.1 and his third album, Have You Forgotten, was quickly released.
In 2004, he released his fourth album, Darryl Worley, just before he signed with a new label, 903 Music. Darryl's fifth album, Here and Now, was released in November of 2006, featuring the popular song, "Nothin' But a Love Thang."
